Old world breeds, or Mollossers Breeds are dogs bred in old times that are usually very large, strong character breeds that were bred for specific purposes such as Hunting, Fighting, Guarding, Gladiator dogs in the Colosseum , or sometimes a combination or all.

These dogs are uncommon and are usually the predecessors of the more common breeds that are seen today.
